Chez Bruno

This highly esteemed restaurant thoroughly deserves it's fame as one of the greatest French truffle restaurants. His cooking satisfies the expectations of the the most demanding gourmet. Bruno sets himself high standards, as is clear from the motto hanging in the kitchen. "Le travail bien fait n'est plus à faire, faisons-le avec le coeur." - "Not only work well, do it with the heart."

You don't dine à la carte at Chez Bruno, you order a three-course menu. The menu changes each week according to the season and the market, but Bruno tends to choose foie gras to complement his trademark truffles. Bruno, works with ten varieties of truffles, which enables him to serve truffles all year round, at very reasonable prices. The very expensive black truffle, or Tuber melanosporum, is only in season from mid-November through March. And the expensive white Alba truffle, is harvested from mid-October into December. Bruno doesn't deny that the Alba is unmatched for its aroma and complex taste, or that the melanosporum is superior in flavour to the cheaper summer truffle. His argument is simple. Aren't very good truffles better than no truffles at all?

Here you will receive pleasant and helpful service and excellent examples of pied et paquets and daube of beef. In the heart of the village, this restaurant offers food of the region. Foie gras platters; stewed and dry magret keep company with anchoide, pieds et paquets, quail, truffle brouillade in season; duck terrine with vin d'orange; pan fried prawns flambeed with pastis; morilles in pastry; beef filet with foie gras sauce; house pies. Generous but not always light. Has a Guide Gantié rating.
